About
I am an Assistant Professor and Library Collections Coordinator at the University of South Carolina Aiken. I also serve as a Country Specialist on the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) for the human rights organization, Amnesty International USA. Broadly speaking, my research areas of interest examine relationships between information access/use and human rights and social justice concerns. More specifically, I am interested in the information needs of human rights and civil society groups in Central Africa; the Open Access Movement and its impact on the South-North information flow; the impact of violent conflict on access to information; and the intersections between cultural rights, information technology, libraries, and literacy in Central Africa. As an educator and information worker, I am also interested in critical pedagogy and ways that can impact the future and direction of librarianship and information work.
In the rest of my life I enjoy painting, making music, bird watching, running, bike riding, kayaking and just generally being outside.
